“Supervision is the best investment a therapist can make in their work, their clients, and their own professional growth”
Robin Shohet
I offer clinical supervision to Associate Social Workers (ASW) and other individuals in the process of obtaining licensure in the state of California.
Clinical supervision is for the supervisee to have a space for consultation on cases and learn good clinical, ethical, and legal practice. Supervision is crucial in protecting client’s welfare and ensuring the integrity of clinical services. Just as it is important for the client’s needs, it is also just as important for the clinician. This is the space to process and explore your own bias, countertransference, and perspective that you bring into the session space. Compassion fatigue and burnout are very real and it is important to have support to ensure you are taking care of yourself just as you are trying to take care of others. Supervision should be a time to check-in with yourself and see what you need.
What I would provide you
- Empathy and Understanding: I am empathetic and understanding of the challenges and emotions that you may face. I will be supportive through a non-judgmental environment.
- Cultural Competence: I practice cultural sensitivity and am aware of the impact that cultural factors may have on therapy and supervision
- Adaptability: I’m flexible and open to different approaches and techniques. I understand that there is no one-size-fits-all solution in therapy and supervision.
- Strong Ethical Foundation: I will uphold ethical standards and model ethical behavior. Ethical dilemmas will be addressed in a constructive and educational manner according to the NASW Code of Ethics.
- Balanced Feedback: I will provide constructive feedback that is balanced, specific, and actionable. I will acknowledge strengths and address areas for growth in a supportive manner.
